Millionair's Row : Dayton Street History

First of all I want to credit the photos used in this piece to the National Parks Service HABS (Historic American Buildings Survey) http://www.nps.gov/history/hdp/. This in an invaluable tool for scholars of historic architecture.

Architecturally everyone of these homes is an 'Over the top' example of the architects craft. these home were built by the elite at a cost many times that of the average home of its day. These photos were taken in the 1970's. The area was not yet in total decline. In doing some reseach many of these homes stayed in the same family all the way up into the late 1970-early 1980's. Fortuantely the remaining homes are on their way back.
