Cincinnati Preservation Bargains: 2549 Beekman

When this house was built it overlooked a Mill Creek valley that was mostly farmland. Today it overlooks the City of Cincinnati.

This home sits on a block that is undergoing a lot of restoration, I have counted 4 current higher end  restorations on this block and a commercial building down the street was just painted. Several homes and building are available and this is shaping up to be a great little pocket neighborhood. Combine that with the Mill Creek project and it's in the future  Knox Hill expansion area and this is a house with possibililies.

Note that it still has its original shutters. Look at the double porch that you can sit on and admire your terraced lawn with stone walls and wrought iron fence. Huge rooms including a 14x20 foot master bedroom on the top floor. This is a house that wont take much to make it a stunner again. Also if you look at the front facade imagine that there was a tower on the left side and you realize this could be a great artistic house that big enough , but sits on a manageable 33x100 foot lot. MLS#1257159 Coldwell Banker is the listing company. Oh and the price? 9,900.00. You couldn't build the retaining walls in the front yard for that and you have a 19 acre nature preserve up the hill.

Do you know of a preservation bargain? A home that just needs some preservation minded owner to return it to its former glory? If so email me at victiques@hotmail.com and we may feature it here. Since we started this series we have placed many homes in the hands of preservation minded owners and rescued them from the clutches of slumlords or worse yet the city bulldozers. Saving Cincinnati, one house at a time!
