Knox Hill Project: Weekly update

Our floor project is progressing after a great deal of timesinking filling the nail holes. We are now beginning the sanding phase. I decided that the floors were very smooth to start with so sanding consists of using the palm sander starting with a medium grit and mocving to fine after that. I decided a conventional belt sander might make the floor too smooth and obliterate any natural character in the wood.. My goal is for the average person to come in and 'assume' the floors are well maintained originals.

Last fall we planted a ton of bulbs in the garden and I am very pleased with the results. The 'timing" of the Garden is working out perfectly, just when one plant finishes its flowering, another plant takes its place.

Today also marks a'shift' with this blog. Today we started another Blog called Cincinnati MPH ( Making Preservation Happen)

I want to use the MPH blog as a preservation building resource . That will cover things like Preservation news, local restoration projects and what is happening with local neighborhood groups and block clubs. The goal is a dialog development to create a real preservation based advocacy group.

This blog will focus more on restoration and period interior design. We will continue with our series like Cincinnati preservation bargains and antiques of the week and will expand our design coverge. We will also be taking you inside some restored homes and works in progress as well.

If you are a regular reader of this blog I think you will find alot of information on the new site as it gets up and running.
