Knox Hill "Preservation Opportunity" Home Tour May 19th

The Knox Hill Neighborhood Association will hold its first ever "Preservation Opportunity" Historic Home Tour on Saturday May 19th from 12-4 PM.

The tour will be different than the typical home tour, it will be aimed at preservationists, old house lovers and  the do-it-yourselfer who may be considering buying an older historic home. The home will feature two in-progress restorations that show the possibilities of restoration in the community and two stabilized homes ready for a new owner to take the next step.  There may also be more homes added by tour date.  KHNA will also co-ordinate with area realtors with homes for sale in the area to have open houses that day as well.

There will be free historic walking tour brochures available so tour goers can explore the neighborhood on their own and two guided tours at 12:30 and 2:00. Plans currently will have the 1800 block of Knox Street blocked off with a display of classic cars and their will be informational booths on the block as well as food vendors.

Tickets for the tour are 10.00 and a list of pre-sale location will be coming soon and tickets will be available the day of the tour. As one Knox Hill resident put it  " This really is an undiscovered and unexplored neighborhood for most people including people who have lived in Cincinnati all their lives. It you told the, some of the best architecture in the city was up here in "Fairmount" they would laugh at you...until they actually come up and look around."

Included among the tour homes is the first peek inside the Naegele-Merz House with its rare neo grec stenciling that was hidden for over a hundred years as an under restoration home. The formal parlor and dining room will be decorated with period antiques and provide a look back at the world of Victorian high style design. The C.Winkler home will also be on the tour as a "preservation opportunity" home and tour goers will see possible floor plans for interior designs. This house is currently undergoing exterior stabilization and will be sold with protective historic covenants to a new owner who will complete the interior restoration.

Tickets for the Tour are 10.00 and  a list of pre-sale locations will be coming soon. Tickets for the tour will be available the day of the tour on site.
