Wilkins House: Kitchen plans finallized
After review of the condition of the footings in the kitchen addition the determination has been made that it would be best to remove this addition and rebuild from new.
This will accomplish two things. One it allows for a slightly larger kitchen/family room and two its allows for flat roof line that will be parapeted so a deck can be built for the second floor which should provide some great views. It also will open up the space to views of the new side yard. More detailed elevations and framing plans are being developed so permits can be pulled.
Exterior painting and siding repairs continue on the outside but has been hampered by the heat wave.

I have been involved in Historic Preservation and Restoration for the last 20 plus years. I own a restoration consulting company and have several ecommerce sites that deal with antiques and art. I have lived in historic neighborhoods across this country. I actually enjoy what I do for a living, having left the corporate world a few years ago. I am proud to be a part of restoring the architectural history of our country.
